hi

i dont read much of novels
they bore me

what i like to read are philosophical books

now, i admit that most of the time
i dont get a thing
and i cannot deny that those books are lined up on my shelf next to fashion magazines to construct a little more intellectual general picture of the person that i am...

but i enjoy reading sartre, levinas and kierkegaard
its fun in a really sexy way

i have to say that philosophy is a masculine discipline

when we think of female and male strengths
numbers are assigned to men and words to women
but philosophy acts on words with the most rational and logical take
sometimes even dryer than you could ever get with numbers

and thats the most pretentious twists

those guys are mostly pretty romantic guys
and they have a gut feeling
convinced of something they wanna shout out loud
and its something corny like
"my life is mine to make"
or
"love is the most important thing"

but they can't allow themselves to just spit it out
no
they need to prove that which cant be proved

so they start writing books
define, correct, deduct and translate feelings into facts
using words in equations
and what they have written stays true
until someone else comes a long and proves them wrong

and reading those lines
that hide their passion in the utmost correct and logical language
is a feast
i sense a common stubbornness
a common urge to set oneself off
a common youthfulness towards life
that makes them so tangible and fragile

i look up to them with great respect
i wouldn't be here without descartes and kant
no doubt about that
but as soon as you look at them as men
you start to discover the flaws in them
through their flawless pieces of writing

artists who digest their past experiences through a sculpture
writers who write a novel based on their own life
it seems like they put their lives out there
share themselves with the world
but most of them dont go as far as philosophers

philosophy seems abstract
but in a way its like reading their diaries
every turn and every argument reveals how they think
who they wanna be
what they wanna change

its very much like dating someone
someone you know everything about
but you can never have
